AWOL

I'm going to be AWOL another week. I've been in quite a bit of pain. Reading and writing are not happening very much. I'm still following along on Instagram and tumblr for #30daysofthankfulness. Check them out and if you're playing along, please share.

My birthday is rapidly advancing. I'm both dreading it as it's another year closer to 40. At 40, children automatically consider you old. :) Yet, I'm very blessed that God has seen fit to keep me alive.

No school or work for a week. A needed break. My homeschooler has to take 1 quiz but considering how little work he has done since my surgery, he can't complain.

Christmas is in 29 days! Yay! I'm so excited! It's my favorite time of year!

Y'all be safe this week as you travel to your friends and relations. I hope y'all have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving.

The doctor said my pain should be much less in another week or 2. I hope to be back next week. Take care!

Going home

The hospital has gotten my pain under control. Henceforth I am finally going home. Yay! My Tempurpedic is calling my name.

I'm so thankful for modern medicine. On Wednesday, I had a tennis ball sized hernia repaired. It was much larger than expected so I've been in great pain. Yesterday they tried a new pain medication, and it worked!! As long as I'm medicated then I am able to get up and walk, shower, and do anything except bend or lift.

I'll be back in a few days after I get acclimated to being home. I hope y'all have a great week!

I'm alive

My surgery didn't go as planned, not a surprise, as none of my operations go as expected. My hernia was very large so they had to cut my stomach open (about 4-5") and sew up the hole  and on the other side of my stomach I have 3 smaller incisions where they put mesh in the holes. The hospital was not able to control my pain until I was given a mirphine pump about an hour ago. Sitting up and trying to stand makes me cry. So, I'm being admitted and on the pump to control my pain. I'll keep y'all updated as I go along.

Surgery...again

Tomorrow morning I am having hernia repair surgery. The hernia (whom I call Hannah) stems from my stomach incision from my back surgery in May. I'll be in the hospital overnight. I'll post here as soon as I can but feel free to check my twitter page, Facebook, and tumblr for updates.

If you're a praying person, I'd appreciate any prayers and cyber hugs you can manage to give.

It's Friday?!

When did Friday get here? This week has been so busy, for which I'm grateful, but also of the realization that this year is going by way. too. fast. Here's what has been going on in Farrah's world (yes, I'm aware that I just wrote that in the third person):

  • I've begun driving again. This is so freeing! When I turned 16, I distinctly remember learning to drive and having the freedom that driving gave. I didn't drive for 6 months after my surgery that left my feet numb. I just decided that I have to try and was able to so I have been driving nearly every day.
  • This week brought physical therapy. I finally am able to start physical therapy on my back.
  • This month I have been doing the 30 day thankful challenge on Facebook, Instagram, and my Tumblr. Feel free to follow along. I put the picture of whom/what I am grateful for then from there apply it to Tumblr and Facebook.
  • My stepdaughter has strep, but thanks to amoxicilin, she is much improved.
  • Researching schools to go back and get my master's in education.
  • Reading the Christmas catalogs that have been arriving daily. I LOVE catalog shopping. I catalog shop then purchase online. When I was a girl, the days we would receive L.L. Bean and JCPenney's catalogs were my favorite.
This is a small list in addition to my typical mommy/wife duties, homekeeping, teaching, etc. I'm ready for a Hallmark movie and to rest tonight. Have a great weekend!

Weekend in photos

My husband and I drove up 2 hours to Chattanooga for Head of the Hooch rowing event. Bryan pushed me in my wheelchair over the world's largest pedestrian bridge, a former railroad bridge. We ate supper at Brewhaus, our favorite German restaurant. Bryan had a patty melt with pimento cheese and red cabbage sauerkraut (his favorite!). I had grilled pimento cheese sandwich and German potato salad. It was so good. I hope you all had a great weekend and will have a wonderful week ahead.

Welcome November

"
But there is always a November space after the leaves have fallen when she felt it was almost indecent to intrude on the woods…for their glory terrestrial had departed and their glory celestial of spirit and purity and whiteness had not yet come upon them."

-Lucy Maud Montgomery
