For Today
January 18. 2017

Outside my window... It is dark and cloudy outside of the high rise. It looks like we may get some storms but the weather app disagrees. It's 61 with a high of 67 expected. Yesterday we were 1* from breaking a record at 74!

I am thinking about... how fast time goes by. I honestly had no idea that I have not posted one of these Daybook's since September. I love these! I had the stomach flu which really knocked me down.

I am thankful... for my job. I was just telling my cousin this morning that I am so grateful for being in the right industry (marketing) and have insurance.

I am wearing... dress (maroon), cardigan (navy), necklace, bracelet, watch (similar), Alice band, ballet flats (navy)

I am going... to take Will to work, dry cleaner, and then home (after I finish working).

I am hoping... to actually fulfill my word of the year and find balance.

In the kitchen... breakfast was cantaloupe, lunch will be leftover pasta with sausage and alfredo and garlic toast, I do not know what dinner will be yet.

I am reading... Vogue magazine, Deep Run Roots by Vivian Howard, and Suck Your Stomach In by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson

A peek into my day... when my Father-in-Law passed away, we visited with my family in Indiana. In this photo L-R ( Ann, Rea (niece), Will, Chad (nephew)

Thoughts for 2017

Ring out wild bells to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light:
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,...
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.
Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.
~Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892), In Memoriam A.H.H., 1833.

If you're on social media, I am sure you've seen many of your "friends" talk about how awful 2016 was and that they're glad it is over. Part of me can understand their thinking because when one has a bad year the new year is oftentimes a new start and you have hope that it will be better than the last. I, for one, had a great 2016! I hope (but never expect) that The Lord makes this year good as well.

My word for last year was Hustle and hustle I did. I got a new job, continued to educate myself in my field (digital media), and have kept on top of my senior. However, I hustled only and so this year I need time management. I need Balance. I will continue to hustle at work but I need to find balance in the rest of my life. For the first 4-5 months of my new job I came home from work, made dinner, and did absolutely nothing else. My body is now acclimated to working so I need to do better about our dinners, blogging, swimming, running our house, and still staying on top of my senior. That's my goal for today-make a plan in order to get this balance.

What are your goals for this year? Also, besides soup, how do you use your Instant Pot?
